Welcome to Ledger! Whether you’re using a Ledger Nano X, Nano S Plus, or Nano S, you’re about to take control of your digital assets with one of the most secure hardware wallets on the market. Setting up your Ledger device is quick, easy, and essential to keeping your cryptocurrencies safe. Let’s get started!
Start by unboxing your Ledger hardware wallet and connecting it to your computer or mobile device using the supplied USB cable. Be sure you are using a trusted, secure device for this setup process to ensure your security.
Download and install Ledger Live, the official application for managing your crypto securely. Ledger Live is available for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. Always download Ledger Live from the official Ledger website to avoid potential scams. Once installed, open the app and choose “Set up a new device.”
Follow the on-screen instructions in Ledger Live. The first step will ask you to set up a PIN code on your device, which will be required every time you access your Ledger wallet. This PIN ensures your assets remain protected.
Your Ledger will then generate a 24-word recovery phrase. This is your backup to restore access to your funds if your device is ever lost or damaged. Write this phrase down carefully on the Recovery Sheet provided in the box. Never store it digitally or share it online. Keep it offline and secure in a safe place. If someone gets access to your recovery phrase, they can access your wallet.
After confirming your recovery phrase, your device is ready to use! With Ledger Live, you can now add accounts for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and hundreds of other cryptocurrencies. You can send, receive, buy, sell, stake, swap, and track your assets — all while keeping your private keys secure and offline in your Ledger device.
Important Reminder: Ledger will never ask for your recovery phrase. If you receive a request for it, it’s a scam. Always ensure you’re using official Ledger applications and websites.
